About Me

As Rudi, in my sharp Temperamentals suit.

Actor.
Now:  I'm currently understudying in the Off-Broadway hit The Temperamentals at New World Stages.  I primarily stand by for Michael Urie, playing Austrian-born fashion designer Rudi Gernreich.

Recently:  I just wrapped up a run of Jeffrey Hatcher's adaptation of The Turn of the Screw at the Merchant's House in the East Village.  It was a sold-out, creep-tastic event that we hope to be bringing back, both at the Merchant's House and at other historic venues around the country.  Details about the production and the Two Turns company can be found at www.twoturns.com.

Other recent work of note: I did two multi-character one-person shows at Barrington Stage Company in the Berkshires: Fully Committed and I Am My Own Wife, both directed by Andrew Volkoff.  Metroland newspaper out of Albany chose me as Best Actor in their "Best of 2008" issue, which was very nice of them: http://www.metroland.net/guides/2008_best_of/best_of_arts.htm.

Coming Up Next:  The Re-Turn of the Screw: our production moves to Florida in October 2010, before a return to the Merchant's House in November.  Details to come...

New Yorker.
Unlike most other kids growing up in Kentucky, I was a huge fan of Jules Feiffer and Woody Allen.  Clearly I was a displaced New Yorker.  Now I live here.

Drama Desk Nominee.

In 2006, I was nominated in the category of Outstanding Actor in a Play for David Johnston's Candy and Dorothy at Theater Three.

Lefty.
In my handwriting, my batting, and my politics.

Knitter.  (Got a problem with that?)
Stage Manager Amber Martin taught me the basics back in 2001, and I've been slowly teaching myself the more complicated stuff ever since --- which isn't easy, given the aforementioned left-handedness.   On top of the usual scarves and baby blankets (hold your applause), I've now mastered socks (wait for it...), and in the last few months completed not one, but TWO sweaters (Thank you!  Thank you very much!)

And yes, I can be a little defensive about it.

That's a mighty handsome sweater if I do say so myself.

Former Olympian.
Yeah, you got me: this one's just a big old lie.
